I checked the rules and didnt see anything about sales/eBay posts but if this is not allowed let me know and I can remove it.
I am selling my Hermione Zara cardi from the Deathly Hallows! I love it but just dont wear it so I thought that I would give someone else a change to have it!Click here for auction
So I've been contemplating putting together a Death Eater costume, but I'm awful frustrated at the lack of suitable costume pieces for sale. Unfortunately I can't sew even if you had a gun to my head and forced me to, so making it myself is out of the question. Commissioning someone else to do it for me is an option, but I'm not even 100% sure yet what I want. I don't just wanna throw on a random black cape, put the Dark Mark tattoo on my arm, and call it a day. I want something that looks good and maybe a little different from the standard Death Eater cosplays.
I'm also debating whether I really want to go for the movie!Death Eater look, with their Ku Klux Klan-esque hats/hoods. I also didn't love the masks in the films. I kind of want something a little more rustic/natural looking. The only thing I've found so far that might work is this.
I definitely don't just want a typical "goth" look, which I feel is a trap some Death Eater costumes fall into. My Google searches aren't turning up a whole lot, so I'm wondering if anyone here has cosplayed as a Death Eater, and if so, if you can point me in the right direction or give me some tips.
I'm auctioning off my Prefect Pin at tophatter.com tonight. It starts at $3, and would be a great addition to your Harry Potter costume. You get to choose your house. Check it out!
I have to admit, it drives me absolutely *crazy* when I see folks dressed up as the Founders of Hogwarts, and they're wearing Renaissance costuming.
As written in the 1990's, JKR states that Hogwarts is 1000 years old. And in Scotland. Therefor, the Four Founders would NOT have worn anything that looks like Ren Fair garb. At all. No, their time period would have been the late 900's, early 1000's, and from northern Europe. They would pre-date the Norman invasion of 1066. Granted, one of them could have migrated on their own from other places in Europe to meet up with the others and settle on building a school in Scotland, language barriers aside.
But the costuming... yeah, I still have to put my foot down on that. No matter *how* magical they are, they wouldn't be wearing fancy clothes from 500 years in the future. Scotland was seriously remote, cut off from the rest of the country (for the most part) and overrun with wild Scottish clans. Not exactly the height of fashion. The Four Founders would have stood out like very gaudy peacocks, even among the local wizarding population.
Yes, I *know* the Four Founders are magical. But the availability of clothing was slim to none, even for nobility. And I will venture to say that went for the local wizarding population as well.
And yes, this means I am up to something. Again. New DE outfit and a historically accurate (well, as much as I can with the fabrics available to me) Founder costume. I would love, love *LOVE* to see more historically accurate Founders costumes at the Misti-Con. Hint-hint.

Hello Everyone! Glad to finally have a computer back so I can keep up to date with the community! Im actually in the process of getting everything together that is taking up space in my (already small) house and selling what I don't want/need anymore. I've sold a lot of peices already but I found a floor length black cloak that I had folded in a box in the top of my closet. It's got a pointed hood and it's unlined stretch moleskin with a smooth backing. If anyone is interested I do have pictures that I can share, or you can hop over to ebay and take a look at the pictures that I've got on the auction.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Floor-Length-Full-Circle-Cloak-/290729423621?pt=US_Costumes&hash=item43b0d2f305
I have the peices to make some more (though they arent moleskin they are a black rayon challis solid, and a brown rayon challis solid) that i can put together rather quickly as well if anyone is interested. Feel free to contact me through here, ebay, or my facebook. Hope to update soon on my HP costumes i've competed.
Hi there, new to this community but I was wondering if anyone knew what clothes Sirius is wearing during the initial scene in OFTP when everyone is in the kitchen talking bout Voldemort. The one with the dark red velvet jacket? Much thanks to people
Hello fellow HP Cosplayers,
My name is Jonathon Rosenthal, I am one of the head organizers of MISTI-Con. MISTI-Con is a new Harry Potter convention that will be taking place May 9th - 13th 2013 in Laconia, New Hampshire at the Margate Hotel.
MISTI-Con will be different from many of the larger HP conventions not only in the design of its programming but its overall atmosphere. MISTI-Con is an intimate convention with a guest cap of 500, and its what we like to call an "immersive" convention experience. The Margate has reserved the entire hotel for our use, this will be a Muggle free convention.
We also have tremendous freedom to decorate almost all of the hotel spaces.
We are currently in the last few days of our Kickstarter. We were thrilled to reach our funding goal in only SIX hours! Since then we have encouraged HP fans to continue to pledge their support for our con. We still have many amazing Kickstarter awards, including special registration packages only available via the Kickstarter.
With additional funding, we can upgrade many aspects of the convention. Including catering at the Masquerade ball, additional performers and presenters and bigger, more detailed decorations and props.
You can check us out at: http://kck.st/LyF6nb

As part of Ascendio - the final fancon from HPEF (the nonprofit behind Infinitus, Nimbus - 2003, Azkatraz, etc.) - we're hosting an awesome event
in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on July 12!
At Night of a Thousand Wizards 2, our attendees will be the only ones in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter from 10 until 1 AM - with free Butterbeer, Pumpkin Juice, desserts and access to all three rides, the shops and shows and streets of Hogsmeade.
One of the amazing aspects of NoaTW is that ticket-holders can cosplay in the WWoHP from 8 PM until the end of the event - it's the only time this year that this will happen. ( It's a magical thing to be a part of!Collapse )
You can register for all of Ascendio here
, or just get tickets for NoaTW2 (they're $140 with any level of registration, or $155 on their own) here
In the lead-up to Ascendio
, the team behind the Infinitus fashion show is organizing this year's presentation, “Wanded and Fabulous”!
Is the catwalk calling your name? Were you born to vogue? Are you interested in watching creative fandomers showcase amazing, magical garb? Here’s your chance!
On Saturday, July 14, Ascendio
's Wanded & Fabulous takes to the main stage! Come see some of fandom’s most ambitious and passionate costumers show off their digs, with styles ranging from “traditional” to fun wizarding takes on fashion staples, such as mod, avante garde and more!
There are many ways to participate, you can model your own costume/outfit, offer to model for a costumer, offer a costume for a model to wear, assist with makeup/hair, or hospitality backstage, or with tech/stagehand work.
Models can showcase their original creations, dress as a character from the HP universe or other realms – crossover costumes are also encouraged – or help others. The only requirements are that you are willing to be fabulous, and provide a short description of your character, outfit, or story for your esteemed Hosts to read while you do your thing on the catwalk.
Your only time commitment outside the show will be a short rehearsal before the show, and we’ll be having an optional meetup on Friday to meet other wizard fashionistas and discuss the show, so look for details as they are announced. More information for interested participants can be found at the Wanded and Fabulous Facebook Group
And don't forget that cosplayers can also wear wizarding (or crossover) garb during Night of a Thousand Wizards 2 in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando on July 12; more information on how to get tickets with or without an Ascendio registration are here
Ascendio will be HPEF's final event, and we're looking forward to seeing so many fandomers together in Orlando in July!
